What can I expect from somnio?
In this article, you will learn how the somnio program is structured, what content you can expect, and how the app guides you step by step to better sleep.
In somnio you are supported by the digital sleep expert Albert. The app supports you in gradually improving your sleep if you suffer from sleep onset insomnia and/or sleep maintenance insomnia.
somnio is a structured, evidence-based program that guides you step by step to better sleep. It consists of a total of 16 modules that build logically on each other and both inform you and prompt you to take action.
Educational modules. In these modules, you receive evidence-based knowledge about sleep, sleep disorders, and factors affecting sleep. They form the professional foundation so that you can work specifically on your sleep problems. You will then better understand:
- what disrupts your sleep and why,
- how thoughts, rumination, and behavior patterns affect your sleep,
- what lies behind the sleep pattern, sleep pressure, and your internal clock.
Goal-oriented practical modules. This is where it becomes very individual: Your previous progress is evaluated, and you work precisely on the factors that are relevant to you. These include, for example:
- how to deal with nighttime rumination and racing thoughts,
- practical exercises to help you unwind better in the evening,
- specific adjustments to your sleeping hours,
- methods for relaxation and stress reduction.
Closing session and follow-up module. After the core program somnio continues to support you: In the closing session, you reflect on your development, and the follow-up module helps you integrate the newly learned habits into your daily routine in the long term.
The content of somnio is based on the methods of cognitive behavioral therapy for insomnia (CBT-I). This form of therapy is considered the recommended first-line treatment for sleep disorders and addresses thoughts, behavior patterns, and habits that impair sleep. The goal is to learn sleep-promoting behavior and gradually change sleep-disrupting patterns. You can also find further information about CBT-I in the article “CBT-I as a treatment method”.
During the program, your sleep data is recorded in a digital sleep journal – either manually through your daily entries or automatically via the connection of a compatible activity tracker. This includes, among other things, bedtime, total sleep time, and subjective sleep quality. Based on this, somnio creates a personalized training program that is regularly adjusted. This way, you receive targeted recommendations that match your individual sleep behavior and support you in a structured way on your path to better sleep.
