Who can I contact in an emergency?
In this article, you will learn who you can contact in a crisis or emergency and where you can quickly find support.
Note that the below instructions apply
There are situations in which sleep problems are only one part of something larger. Perhaps you feel heavily burdened, exhausted, or empty inside. Sometimes loneliness, depressive thoughts, anxieties, or crises are added that go far beyond sleep disorder. In such moments, it is important to know: You do not have to deal with this alone.
If you notice that something is seriously burdening you or you feel overwhelmed, it can help to talk to someone about it. There are professional points of contact for this that will listen to you confidentially, anonymously, and free of charge and support you.
An important first point of contact is TelefonSeelsorge. It can be reached around the clock, including at night and on public holidays. There, you can speak with trained counselors, no matter what is weighing on you. You can reach TelefonSeelsorge at the toll-free numbers 0800 111 0 111, 0800 111 0 222 or 116 123. If you prefer to write, chat and email services are also available to you at https://www.telefonseelsorge.de/. TelefonSeelsorge is there not only in acute crises, but also in cases of loneliness, inner restlessness, or the desire for an open conversation.
If you are feeling especially lonely, Silbernetz may also be helpful. Silbernetz is aimed primarily at older people who would like someone to talk to or who feel isolated. You can call the toll-free number 0800 4 70 80 90 daily between 08:00 and 22:00, and speak with a conversation partner – without time pressure and without a fixed topic. You can find more information at www.silbernetz.org.
In addition, it may make sense to contact a doctor or psychotherapist, especially if your burden persists over a longer period or increases. Psychosocial counseling centers or services in your region can also be valuable support.
If you are in an acute mental health crisis, for example with severe thoughts of despair or suicidal thoughts, it is especially important to get help immediately. In such situations, you can contact psychiatric or psychological emergency services. If there is acute danger to yourself or others, please do not hesitate to contact emergency services (112) or the police (110). These services are there to help in emergencies.
Important note:
somnio cannot and should not replace professional emergency help in such situations. Your safety and your well-being always come first. If you are unsure whether somnio is the right support at the moment, please speak with a health care professional or psychotherapist - especially if you are currently under severe strain or your condition is worsening.
